Dedicated to saving dogs from HIGH KILL shelters
and finding them safe and loving homes in New England.
Northern New England Dog Rescue is a group of volunteers dedicated to
saving dogs that would otherwise be euthanized from High Kill shelters and
finding them permanent loving homes in New England. While they are with us, adoptable dogs are housed in foster homes, with people we trust to care for them. They work on basic house manners and obedience and we get to know their personalities and what it is like to live with them. At NNEDR we try to make the best matches we can for the dogs and the families that are looking to adopt them. Please take them time to read about our adoption process. We also recommend you research the breed of dog you are interested in adopting to make sure your lifestyle and family are a good match for one another.
NNEDR is a non-profit corporation registered in the state of Vermont. Currently we meet our expenses through adoption fees, fundraising events, and donations.

Dog of the Century
Meet Cocoa AKA Coconut and Cocoa-bean this 4 year old lab/pit mix is full of love and she desperately needs to find her forever family. Cocoa was surrendered to the shelter over a year and a half ago. She has been bounced around between shelters and rescues looking for a person or family of her own, but no one has been interested in her. She is not the prettiest girl at the party (and it is really hard to take her picture of her), but don't be fooled she has a lot going for her. First of all she is a grown up, so you won't find any drama here. She is house trained, crate trained and not hyper. She loves going for walks, sleeping on the couch, snuggling on her dog bed, chewing on rawhide, playing with toys, and other dogs. She is fostered with small children and while she tends to camp out under the high chair at dinner she is never pushy or mouthy about food. Cocoa barks to alert us to visitors and strange squirrels in the yard . She likes to hang out in the kitchen while dinner is being prepared and she loves veggies for treats. Cocoa knows sit, down and wait. She is a devoted girl and she will make someone an excellent companion. If you are looking for a true friend and you believe it is what is on the inside that counts please consider Cocoa. She has waited so long and she really, really deserves a home of her own. Please email any questions about Cocoa to shane@nnedr.org.
(P.S. Cocoa chases cats.)

Something To Bark About, NNEDR News...
NNEDR Alumni: We would LOVE to hear from you! We often wonder how the dogs are doing that were adopted from NNEDR. We really would like to keep in touch and to post your stories and pictures on our alumni blog.
We have been rescuing a few more dogs than normal lately and we are in the process of rebuilding a strong foster network. We are looking for some volunteers. There are lots of jobs to be done. If you want to get involved on any level we would love to hear from you. You do not need to be local to get involved.
